What is Telehealth?

Telehealth is new!

Telehealth is exciting!.

Telehealth will change the way you access your doctor or nurse.

Telehealth is part of social distancing to help stop the spread of coronavirus.

Telehealth involves replacing most traditional face to face consultations with your doctor

with telephone calls or video calls.

Why are we doing it?

We care enormously about protecting the health and well-being of our patients and staff and so, following advice from the federal government and department of health, we have taken the  challenging step of moving almost exclusively to Telehealth. This is part of the  country-wide program to allow people to stay at home and reduce the spread of covid-19.

Will I still be able to see my doctor?

Telehealth is what is known as a "triage"system.

That means that the initial appointment  that you book - either online or by phone, will be  conducted over the telephone or via a video connection.

In many situations, for example repeat prescriptions, referral letters or just advice and reassurance, the  telephone consultation may be all that is required.

However if, during your conversation with the doctor, you both agree that it is necessary

for you to see the doctor for a face to face consultation and examination then the doctor will arrange that for you - usually for the same day.

How does it work?

  1. Make an appointment in the usual way.
This can be by calling reception on 07 3369 3922  or book online here.
We encourage the use of our online booking system as it allows  you more freedom and access to book an appointment when it  suits you and not get held up in a phone queue.

If you are using the booking  system for the first time you will be asked to fill in contact details.
You may also have to navigate a few questions so we can direct you to the right appointment type.
Don't be afraid of it! It's easy and very user-friendly to use!

  2. You will be  given a time for your consultation in the usual way.

  3. The doctor  will call you as close to your booking time as possible.
    You may receive a phone-call.
You may receive a text inviting you to join a video consultation.
